The straw that broke......... by theederv The straw that broke......... by theederv
Firstly I must state, the ciggarette box is not my model, it was given on CGtalk to compare render settings between c4d and Maxwell. But seeing as i cant afford maxwell I just tried squeezing what i could from Advance render 9.5!!

So for those of you interested enough the setting were as folllows
I took about 2 hours getting this setup as best i could.............................Im still not sure on the shadows??
Anyway
Render Time: 36 Mins
GI: Paul Debevec Kitchen Dome, 90% Strength, 90% Accuracy, Diffuse 3, Sochastic Samples 800, Min res 280, Max 300
Ambient Occlusion: 100% on 50% Grey Gradient adjustment, +3 contrast

PS Another wonderful floor texture from me if i may say so myself :)

Thanks for looking

Ben

It's a great pic. I am in the woods when it comes to the software you use, am gonna try it later this year.

BTW, didja know that Camels have different packaging in different parts of the world? And about 60 different kinds of Camels? It used to be a nonfilter only....going back like 40 years!

Very nice texturing, did you ever think about adding a very light bump map to the cigs? Just curious.

Again, excellent work!

<constructive criticism>
Drop the bumpmap texture on the silver foil down a bit, or soften it somehow.
The lid is thin paper with white inside, it would be lighter inside I think.
</constructive criticism>

You win at texturing. ;p

I agree with what your saying about inside actually, i might have a look at adjusting that, maybe putting some sub surface scattering on it

thanks for the good crit

And yeh, i do win at texturing ;)

hair is a really tricky one with c4d, depends what sort of hair you want, you can do a sort of fake fur using displacment maps, i could make one for you and put it up as a resource if you wish?? Hair as in hair for a person is near impossible without a plugin, you can get shave and haircut (plugin) but it costs and i have no experience of using it so i cant help much further than that.

Let me know mate, if you wanna talk further about this off the boards then note me!!

Regards
